The Nichols Cottage | Dining Room

When you walk through the french doors from our living room you enter into our dining room. For a while, it honestly felt like a hallway because we simply just walked through it to get to other rooms in the house. The room was already painted a warm gray and the original french doors have been stained a really pretty deep stain. I love the contrast and the traditional feel of the space, and we needed it to be a transitional space that felt semi-formal but still relaxed.

So, to bring in a little fun we added a coffee bar that’s easily accessible when people come over. It’s fully stocked with everything coffee related, and it adds a fun little flare to the room. Our dining room table and chairs were my Christmas present this past year (hooray for being an adult & getting furniture haha). It took a while to pick out a table, it’s such a commitment! I came across this beauty at the Pottery Barn Outlet for half off the original price, it was a no-brainer!

I change out the table settings and table top design as seasons change, it’s so easy to transition this space form laid back to formal with just a few simple pieces! Eventually, I would love to add statement chairs at the head of the table, mainly to anchor the space and to make it feel more like a dining room! I’ve been looking whenever I stop into TJ Maxx and At Home, eventually I’ll find the perfect chairs that are still affordable!
