Braden and I are always looking for new ideas for a fun little date night. Mostly, our date nights include dinner somewhere downtown, and are usually followed up by froyo. Solid date and always a crowd pleaser 🙂 but when the opportunity came to stay at The Inn at Patrick Square in one of our favorite cities, we couldn’t pass it up.
The Inn & the surrounding neighborhood were under construction when we were living in Clemson, so this was the first visit we got to see the finished product. Y’all, it’s gorgeous. Patrick Square has a historic low country vibe with the quaintness of the cute town of Aiken. I kept telling Braden it reminds me so much of downtown Aiken in all the best ways!
For our stay, we decided on a random Tuesday night, strategically planning around Clemson’s basketball schedule. The night we visited, Clemson was playing UNC, and Braden found some tickets last minute on Craigslist (praise for Craigslist)! In college we never missed a football game, but I’ll be honest, we rarely went to basketball games. I forgot how fun they are! Added bonus, the Tigers beat UNC 82-78!
After the game, we walked back to our car and headed to The Inn at Patrick Square. We were greeted by the most beautiful entryway and lobby. Y’all, this place is straight out of Restoration Hardware! Plus, their staff was so kind and accommodating. Our room was just as tastefully decorated — clean whites, pops of color, and a little RH personality. It truly felt like we were staying in a Charleston hotel, without the 3+ hours in the car.
The next morning, Braden and I had our normal Wednesday morning coffee date downstairs at the adorable Stumphouse Cafe. I wish this little cafe existed when we were in college because I would’ve definitely been a frequent guest. It has lots of seating for those who want to have a coffee date, study, meet with a group, or just relax by the fire and watch the news.
They serve a variety of breakfast items, snacks, and coffee & tea. They serve the same coffee as Methodical Coffee downtown (aka Braden was pumped), and have a very upscale but comfy vibe. Braden ordered a breakfast sandwich to go & I ordered the breakfast burrito, both so good. He headed off to work and I enjoyed a slow morning in our room, letting the light pour in the huge windows.
When I was checking out, all I could think about is how much I wanted to get a bride in that lobby! It’s a perfect space for a timeless bridal session, and now it’s definitely on my bucket list to photograph there! They also function as an event space, with weddings lined up for this year, and it’s a wonderful catch all. They offer space for the bridal brunch, getting ready on the wedding day, ceremony space, and ballrooms for the reception.
Easy, simple, and timeless. Sign me up for a wedding there any time! I cannot recommend this place enough. Do yourself a favor & go have a little staycation!
